PBT具有明显的熔点，熔点为225～235℃，是结晶型材料，结晶度可达40%。

 　　PBT熔体的粘度受温度的影响不如剪切应力那么大，因此，在注塑中，注射压力对PBT熔体流动性影 PBT响是明显。

 　　PBT在熔融状态下流动性好，粘度低，仅次于尼龙，在成型易发生“流延”现象。 　　PBT成型制品各向异性。PBT在高温下遇水易降解。


PBT是在其主链上具有酯键的直链型热塑性饱和聚酯，其化学名为Polybutylene Terephthalte，简称PBT，是与PET树脂同类别的高聚物。PBT为乳白色半透明到不透明、结晶型热塑性聚酯，由于它具有高的熔点和结晶度，吸水率和热膨胀系数也都很低，因此具有优良的尺寸稳定性。此外，还具有优良的电绝缘性，由吸湿性引起的电性能的变化很小，绝缘电压很高。
 在PBT的聚集态结构中有结晶区和非晶区，因此，可以通过添加其它物质容易地对进行改性，赋予其各种功能。现有难燃型品级、高速成型型品级、高抗冲击型品级等赋予了各种功能的各种各样的品级。
